  • It has been brought to our attention that the government wish to consider it a "legal requirement" in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging. A passing bus will probably make more noise than a drumkit!

PLEASE DO NOT INTRODUCE THIS LAW, WE LOVE LOUD LIVE MUSIC!

  • Last under the Sun played its first gig on 9th October 2001. The band is based in Birmingham and plays a mixture of punk and hardcore. The band has played across Europe. In 2008 the band toured Europe as half of a reformed Police Bastard. Last under The Sun found a new drummer in 2008 called Simon (ex-Rivers Edge and current Police Bastard stick man), and has started to work on new material.
  • This article examines the music industry from an economic and business history perspective. The claim made is that more new music is created when majors aren't dominating the market. Furthermore, it claims that to move forward into the internet age the music business must break free from its industrial mindset. This article is an adaptation of an earlier academic study.

  • This paper explores illegal music file-sharing activity and its effect on Australian sales of singles in the physical and digital retail markets. Using fifteen weeks of Australian Recording Industry Association weekly chart rankings of physical and digital sales, combined with a proxy for download activity derived from the popular peer-to-peer (P2P) network 'Limewire', the evidence suggests no discernible impact of download activity on legitimate sales. Whilst significant negative correlation between chart rank and download activity is observed in the digital market, once download endogeneity is purged from the model and song heterogeneity is controlled for no significant relationship remains.

  • Internet music piracy has no negative effect on legitimate music sales, according to a study released today by two university researchers that contradicts the music industry's assertion that the illegal downloading of music online is taking a big bite out of its bottom line.

  • Contrary to the music industry’s assertions, peer-to-peer (p2p) file-sharing does not have a negative affect on the legal purchasing of music, according to a study commissioned by the Canadian government ministry Industry Canada (via Kapica’s Cyberia).
