The Music Network has a new website. It’s not all finished yet but after a few hours of ranting and raving and cursing Brian who designed the template, the site is looking a lot better. Brian is actually all right after all, In fact I recommend his work. Let me know if you have any better ideas or suggestions. Stay tuned, cheers Brian, there’s more to follow…..

Are you coming to the Music Network meeting today 4 til 6pm at The TIC?
The Birmingham branch of Musicians Union will be supplying luxury chocolate biscuits and good coffee for all. There’s food and drink afterwards supplied by the creative networks lot too. Come and talk about what you’re up to and meet some new people, you know it makes sense. Keep an eye on the new look website, I might work out how to get it fully fuctional over the next few days.
The Music Network organises a NETWORKING EVENT on the last Thursday of each month, 4-6pm at The UCE Technology and Innovation Centre(TIC), Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7XG. (directions/info tel: 08712 262725)
The meeting is open to all involved in Birmingham Music who wish to network.
The Music Network organises the meeting for the benefit of music related businesses in the West Midlands region. If you have news to report, a presentation to give, an event to promote, any new points for discussion, a pitch to make, business cards or flyers to hand round, an appeal for help, advice or guidance or even if you just want the free tea and biscuits and some quality entertainment…you are all invited.
Anthony Hughes has been a regular face at Music Network Meetings and has worked hard to bring the workings of Digital Central to the table enabling members of the local Music Community to interact, inform strategy and decision making. Thanks to Anthony, Digital Central picked up the bill for teas and coffees at the meetings and thanks to Anthony, when Digital Central closes the Musicians Union will be stepping in to pick up the tab so you can rest assured, teas and coffees will continue to be made available to you all at future meetings.
Anthony has been committed to ensuring that Digital Central has been available at Network meetings to listen to and interact with discussions that have shaped the way people perceive and work within the Midlands based music Industry over the past couple of years. Anthony will be at the next Network Meeting as he rarely misses the opportunity to get a free coffee and chocolate biscuits. Dear All, For those of you who don’t know, the Digital Central project is drawing to a close. The last date of my contract and the project is 31st March and I have been informed that the department who contract managed Digital Central for the University no longer wishes to pursue this kind of project.
For the last two years I have worked towards my key objectives I set out at the start of my contract. I have aimed to finally bring together a dialogue between the regions music industry education and the regional development initiatives, providing the music industry with an equal voice at the table of such policy and funding opportunities. Mostly I have managed to achieved this.
I am pleased with the successes I have made and those who I managed to offer support to, whether that be direct funding, support service, in kind support or my time and energy.

step forward the now Berlin-based Stanley Brinks. New single ‘Fox Trot’ is dark and broody, lurching forward like the pissed fall guy in a 1950s crime caper; Brinks’ lyrics are exquisite, slowly painting his story with effortless flamboyance (“My father was a doctor but he played the guitar/On the day that you are born you know who you are”). He states his intentions: “The only thing I learnt was what no-one said to me/You better live now and stop getting ready.” The results could prove intriguing.”
