No To Racism and Fascism in Education protest against BNP activist , Mon 17th Nov

No To Racism and Fascism in Education
Join the protest against BNP activist , Mon 17th Nov.

Assemble from 7:30 a.m. and at lunch time from around 11:00 a.m, Victoria Square, Birmingham ( just outside the GTC building) .

On Monday 17th November, Adam Walker, President of the BNP’s ‘Trade Union’ Solidarity, is appearing before England’s General Teaching Council in Birmingham where he could be struck from the teaching register if he is found to have espoused racial and religious intolerance. For more information see: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/sep/19/bnp.schools

The BNP present this as a matter of free speech and we believe they intend to protest around the hearing. The right to free speech does not include the right to stir up racial hatred and take away the rights of others. We will leaflet in Victoria Square outside the building from 7:30 a.m. and at lunch time from around 11:00 a.m. Please do your best to attend. ‘For evil to triumph all that is necessary is that good people do nothing’.

Stop the BNP in Walsall Sunday 16th November
The BNP are hoping to regain momentum in Walsall by standing in the Birchills and Leamore Ward council by-election. They have been pushed back over the last couple of years, reduced to standing in just one ward in Walsall in the May elections this year. However they clearly aim to make a comeback and with seven candidates running in a ward where the turnout in the May elections is often as low as 20%, there is a real risk they could sneak in on the back of an even lower by-election poll. A major effort by anti-fascists can ensure this doesn’t happen. We will be leafleting this ward on Sunday 16th November to counter their lies and expose them for the fascists that they are. Lets follow up the recent success in Wolverhampton where they were driven back further.

Meet at 11am and / or 2:15pm in the car park at the front of Carphone Warehouse, Walsall Retail Park, Six Towers Road, off Reedswood Way, WS2 8XA (north of Walsall).Map

Little Sister: Birmingham –based folk quartet:
Four women, four voices, too many instruments!
Little Sister have been playing together since June 2006. They play
original arrangements of world folk music (from Irish to Ladino to
American Old-time Country), as well as writing and performing their
own songs and tunes. Equipped with harp, guitar, fiddle, accordion,
flute, viola, cello, djembe, mandolin, an assortment of things to hit,
shake or scrape and, of course, their four voices, these four young
women refuse to be ignored.

“The homegrown answer to the Be Good Tanyas!” Birmingham101 Magazine

Abie Budgen:
With her quirky original songs, unique voice and intricate guitar
style Abie is nicely ‘left of left’. Her roots belong in the country
blues tradition and the recordings of the 1920s and 30s, and in the
madness of Syd Barrett.
